The A chord on the ukulele has become very popular because it is an open position chord. An open position chord is one in which at least one of the strings is open, i.e. there is no finger on it. Although the A chord is an open position chord, it turns into a bar chord when you move it up the neck to different chords! But, I will explain about the bar chords after some time.
I will first explain the fingering for the A chord
+ 2nd finger on the 4th string 2nd fret
+ 1st finger on the 3rd string 1st fret
+ Open 2nd string
+ Open 1st string
You might have noticed that the A major and A minor chords are quite similar on the ukulele. The A minor differs from A major because it does not use the first finger and keeps the third string open.
