Strum Pattern #1 reviews the Whole Note, Half Notes, Quarter Notes, and Eighth Notes.

Strum Pattern #2 uses a measure of quarter notes followed by a measure of eighth notes and then gets repeated.

Strum Pattern #3 uses a quarter note on beat 1, eighth notes on beat 2 and the "+" of 2 and a half note on beat 3.

Strum Pattern #4 uses a quarter note on beat 1, eighth notes on beat 2 and the "+" of 2, quarter note on beat 3 and eighth notes on beat 4 and the "+" of 4.

Strum Pattern #5 uses a quarter note on beat 1, eighth notes on beat 2, the "+" of 2, beat 3, the "+" of 3 and a quarter note on beat 4.

Strum Pattern #6 uses a eighth notes on beat 1 and the "+" of 1, quarter note on beat 2, eighth notes on beat 3 and the "+" of 3, quarter note on beat 4.

Strum Pattern #7 uses a quarter note on beat 1, eighth notes on beat 2, the "+" of 2, 3, the "+" of 3, 4 and the "+" of 4.

Strum Pattern #8 is the same as Strum Pattern #7 but it has a tie (a tie is a hold) between the "+" of 2 and beat 3. That means you strum the "+" of 2 with an up stroke, let the strings ring for beat 3 (do not strum beat 3) and then use an up stoke on the "+" of 3.
