Dear ukulele player,
I love the ukulele, music, and teaching.
I guess you could say that music is in my blood. My Grandpa, Chuck Carter played guitar and harmonica at barn dances in Los Angeles in the 1930's with the Carter Family. Not the famous, Carter Family (June Carter, A.P. Carter, Johnny Cash), but my family, the Carter family (just as cool in my opinion). While my Grandpa, Cameron Anderson played jazz guitar with many of the big bands in the 1930's-1940's such as Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Eddie Duchen, and Glen Miller.
For me my musical journey began in middle school with the violin, then progressed to the guitar at 15, and then I found the ukulele in college.
I excited that you are here cause I think you and I have a lot in common, we both love music and we both are passionate about the ukulele.
My name is Terry Carter and I have been blessed with the opportunity to make my living as a professional musician, which is good because I'm not good at much else (does surfing count?). But truth be told weather I made my living as a musician or not I would still spend most of my time playing and being fascinated with the ukulele. Let's be honest can you play the ukulele without it bringing a smile to your face? I can't :)
Although music was always a big part of my life it wasn't till I was 18 that I decided to make it my career. In the early 1990's I began taking some music classes at the local community college. One of the classes required me to purchase a ukulele. So I went down to the local music store and bought a $40 ukulele. It was actually a baritone ukulele that was tuned like a tenor ukulele, little did I know at the time. Anyway this is where my ukulele journey began.
Fast foward a few years and after a great surf session at Huntington Beach, California my buddy Alex and I started jamming ukuleles on the sand. We were playing everything we knew from The Beatles to Jason Mraz to the Blues. We got lost in the music and next thing we know there is a crowd of people around us listening with huge grins on their faces.
Why did people love the music we were playing at the beach that beautiful summer day? Was it the songs? I know a lot of classic songs that everyone loves but that wasn't it. Was it my singing? I'm no Frank Sinatra, but I can hold a tune but it wasn't the singing either. It hit me, it was the ukuleles.
Ukuleles produce the most marvelous and gorgeous sounds out of those small bodies of koa wood. It just makes people happy, smile, and want to have a good time.
Later that night their was a ukulele jam at the Huntington Beach Pier. I grabbed my uke, hopped in my 1972 Ford F-250 Custom truck that I got from Grandpa Carter and headed to the jam session.
I realized that if I knew the song being played then it was easier for me to follow along with the rhythm and the chord progression.
BUT the problem was that I didn't know most of these songs. The music was moving so fast that I would have to look around at the other players to find out:
When I went home that night I decided to look online for some better chord charts. I soon found out that most of the songs you find online are they same kind of thing: only lyrics with chords.
What was worse is that I looked at some ukulele videos on YouTube and Instagram and they had strum patterns represented by up and down arrows, something like this: ↓ ↓↑ ↓ ↓↑. This is even more confusing, because it showed me the strum direction but didn't show me any kind of rhythm.
So I decided to start listening to all the popular ukulele songs. If your like me it sometimes takes a while to hear and copy the exact strum pattern you hear on the 'records.'
I thought to myself what is it that most ukulele players want to do? PLAY THEIR FAVORITE SONGS.
I figured there is got to be a simple solution to this problem so I started listening to as much music and ukulele music as i could and I had a BREAKTHROUGH.
I realized that there were only a handful of strum patterns that would work for hundreds of songs. WOW!!!
Let me repeat that, there are literally a handful of strum patterns that once mastered will allow you to play hundreds to your favorite songs.
As I investigated further I realized that it didn't matter if you listened to rock, pop, jazz, blues, country, island, or worship music that you would hear the same strum patterns over and over again.
Once these strum patterns are mastered it made it EASY to play along with the original artists and play exactlly what they were playing.
In my career I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the most talented artists in the world that include Weezer, Josh Groban, 2 time grammy winning composer Christopher Tin (Calling All Dawns), Robbie Krieger (The Doors), members of the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra and Duff McKagen (Guns and Roses).
I have always enjoyed studio work and composing music. Throughout my career I have been able to write and perform music for some special shows and events including MTV, Scorpion (CBS), Pitbulls & Parolees (Animal Planet), and PUMA.
I have also taught thousands of students over the last few decades that range from private lessons to high school and college classes. I have worked at some of the finest colleges such as the University of Southern California, State Diego State University, and Santa Monica College.
As a teacher I am constantly looking for material for my classes and it was difficult for me to find anything that offered the complete and well rounded curriculum that I wanted to teach.
I decided to write my own material that I could use with my students that would teach them all the essentials needed to become proficient and successful musicians. This led to the creation of Uke Like The Pros.
I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate what you're doing with Uke Like The Pros. The material and exercises are just about perfect for a recently-retired engineer such as myself. Also, my girlfriend happens to be a professional musician, an Eastman graduate, and she was nicely impressed with your "First Time We Met" composition she heard me practicing. She thinks it all sounds pretty cool. Also, I should add that your course was a very positive experience for me. It was my first class in more than 30 years and it was just what the doctor ordered. I loved your course, it was great.
- Chris, USA
I love the diversity of the material; songs, fingerpicking, different styles of blues and rock. It lays a good foundation for general knowledge, technique and also which styles I prefer to play and would like to continue with in the future.
I've been working on the course for several months. It’s a fun and easy-going course while being challenging and making us students set goals for ourselves and our playing. You should know you are an amazing teacher and there’s never a boring moment. You are one of my favorite teachers of all time.
Uke Like The Pros is perfect for those who want to develop their ukulele playing and bring it to the next level, while having fun at the same time.
The diversity of this course helped me find which styles I really love playing.
Caroline Thomas, Malibu
The course presents an opportunity to improve your ukulele skills with a plethora of genres. It’s well organized and each charter gradually reinforces and build on prior material. Visually it presents itself in a clear and precise format.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - 'IZ' cover song
For the last 25 years I have dedicated myself to music and you if I'm not out playing ukulele or jamming at the beach, I'm teaching music at Santa Monica College or the University of Southern California.
I have come to understand what students of all ages need to get the most out of their lesson. Helping people become better musicians is something that brings great joy to my life.
I am so excited to have you join my educational family and look forward to helping you achieve all your ukulele goals.
Great! Lost of doors opened on different sounds, styles, etc…With practice (lots of it) your selections and music give me a definite “upgrade” to my current knowledge and ability.
The course is definitely challenging – “that’s good!” A lot of new material especially songs and blues. Your knowledge of music and ukulele makes it easier to play and improve. And it’s great to have the ability to read TAB, chords and rhythms.

For some of you this may be your first introduction to me. Others of you may know me or heard of me. I realize that there is a vast internet of salesmen and products out there that don't do what they claim to do.
I can't convince you to invest in Uke Like The Pros but I can tell you that I have made music and teaching my life. I have put an extreme amount of time in preparing, writing, editing and working on the Uke Like The Pros product.
I can't promise you that you will go from a beginning ukulele player to IZ or Jake Shimabukuro in a few weeks. But I can promise you that you will get a well rounded and complete ukulele experience.
If your willing to put in 20 minutes a day on practicing and you will trust the system that I have developed then I can promise you that you will find great joy and satisfication at seeing yourself become a better player.
I may not be able to make you sound like Jake Shimabukuro but I will show you the techniques he uses to get his sound. You can take that information and decide to be like Jake or decide that you want to be your own unique ukulele player, the choice is yours.
Here is what some of the Uke Like The Pros students have said.
I really enjoyed the course. I learned a ton of material and improved tremendously. I really like the fact that it had a diverse amount of material so I got to practice different techniques and musical styles.

Uke Like The Pros by Terry Carter is the most complete and well organized courses for beginning ukulele that I have come across. All the lessons are melodic and well written and the songs are based on progressions of classic pop songs that we are all familiar with. The course prepares the student to read rhythms, TAB, all open and closed position chords, barre chords, major and pentatonic scales, the blues, and an introduction to fingerstyle. For the price there isn't a better resource!
- Jim, College Professor
This was the best ukulele course I’ve ever taken. The biggest advantage in this course was that we not only learned new songs but we got some useful practices and we also learned some new scales and methods.
- Connie Misen, Surfer Girl
My teaching system has been used by students all over the world. I have taught students from the USA, Sweden, Brazil, Russia, China, Mexico, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, England and many other far away lands.
Getting postive reviews and success stories from all my students helps drive me to contiue to work hard and teach. It would be awesome to read your success story.

To say that ukulele players are a unique group of people would be an understatment. We might spend $1500 on a KoAloha tenor ukulele or go crazy and buy a Martin 5K tenor ukulele for $5500.
We may waste hundreds of hours (time is money) watching random ukulele videos on YouTube only to find that we hit a rut and realize we aren't progressing like we want to.
Uke Like The Pros is hours of step-by-step instruction and play along Backing Tracks. There is enough material here to take take you through a year of ukulele instruction. If you took lesson from me privately you would easily spend over $3000.
You will not spend anywhere near that for Uke Like The Pros...
If you make the commitment to Uke Like The Pros today your investment is only $299 $200 $179 for a full year membership. Or if you prefer to pay by the month then you can enjoy a monthly memberhsip at $19.99 month. Q. Is this course good for a beginner?
A. This course if perfect for the beginner. This course was designed specifically for the beginner, yet the material is so diverse and comprehensive I guarantee that even the most advanced player will learn from this course
Q. Is it hard to get a refund if I don't like it?
A. No, it's a piece of cake. You will have full access to the site and me anytime. All you need to do is contact me and I'll refund your money if your not satisfied.
Q. How much do I need to practice?
A. The more you can practice the better. But I recommend that you practice a minimum of 20 minutes a day. The more you practice the more you will get out of the course. Remeber that 20 minutes a day is better then an hour once a week.
Q. Can I access the lessons from any country?
A. Yes, if you can access internet then you will have unlimited and complete access to all the material.
Q. Do I have to have a ukulele with a high G or a low G on the 4th string?
A. I filmed all these lessons on a my KoAloha ukulele that had a high G string on it. Most ukuleles come with a high G string as the 4th string. But it doesn't matter if you have a high G or a low G, both will work. I recommend that your ukulele is a tenor, concert or soprano. Most baritone ukuleles are tuned differnently.
Q. Is the site secure? I don't like using my credit card online.
A. Yes, my website and private information such as credit cards, names, emails, etc. are completely safe and will not be shared with anyone, period. I value your privacy and work hard to make sure my site is 100% safe and secure.

All the best my fellow ukulele friend,
Many of the students who had a hand in the creation of Uke Like The Pros were exactly where you are today. The problems they faced and the information they needed is what drove me to put this course together in one package. You won't find a more complete guide to learning the ukulele anywhere.
If you keep doing what you've been doing you're going to keep gettting the same results and that's probably not working for you. Imagine how much time you can save by using a proven system and how much it's costing you every single day that you struggle needlessly.
Uke Like The Pros works and you can follow easy step-by-step and you'll have help from me and other enthusiastic forum members every step of the way. What are you waiting for? Order Uke Like The Pros today!
